Dr. Derrick was born and raised as a fifth-generation Texan and retains the best of her Lone Star upbringing, including a belief that the sky’s the limit and an indefatigable commitment to quality.  In fact, BoxBar Vascular was named after her great grandfather’s cattle ranch; the clinic’s logo is the same brand from one of the family branding irons.

“My great grandfather and the BoxBar Vascular brand are very special to me: It symbolizes a kind of indomitable spirit and stubborn commitment to his herd. He was the most influential adult in my formative years, and I like to think I inherited his passion for hard work and his belief that hard work could accomplish great goals.”

The new BoxBar clinic represents a new kind of medical experience: As an independent practice, Dr. Derrick and her team are not affiliated with any regional or national medical systems, although general practitioners often refer their patients to the clinic for the kind of specialized vascular and venous work Dr. Derrick is known for.

“Venous disease has a huge quality of life component; not only can it be life threatening, but even what we think of as ‘normal’ varicose veins can be terribly uncomfortable.  Many patients – both men and women – don’t understand that it doesn’t have to be this way.

I am determined to make a difference in the lives of my patients, and it’s the commitment and goal of all of us here at BoxBar to live out the values my Texan grandfather taught me: compassion, loyalty and a fierce desire to always improve.”
