Painless In-Office Venous Surgery in Seattle

Once Dr. Ellen has given you a diagnosis, you may opt for the surgery option. You’ll be glad to know that most of her surgeries can be performed in-office. The only pain you will feel is a slight prick of the needle administering the numbing agent. She will also administer Vicodin and Valium to help you relax and be more comfortable. Once the surgery has started, total time until you are out the door is an hour or less.

There are several types of surgery to treat vein issues. Dr. Ellen will go over the option she feels is more appropriate for your diagnosed condition, and you will move forward with treatment. Below are the most common procedures used to treat veins:

Laser Treatment or Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT)

This procedure uses laser heat to destroy, or ablate, a problem vein. It is a painless, non-invasive, in-office procedure.

Radiofrequency Ablation

This is a very similar procedure to EVLT, but instead of laser heat, this procedure uses radio frequency (electricity) to ablate and collapse dysfunctional veins. It is also non-invasive, painless and done in-office.

Sclerotherapy

This is a procedure used to treat very small veins. A tiny needle containing a chemical saline is injected into the offending vein. It irritates the vein until it collapses and is dissolved by the body.

Medical Adhesive Seal

A medical grade of glue is used to close off diseased or offending veins. Blood is then re-routed to other healthy veins, and the hardened, glue-filled veins are then absorbed by the body.
