Varicose Vein Surgery | Seattle, WA

Are you someone who works standing on their feet all day? Someone like a teacher, mail carrier, hair stylist, cook, nurse who spends the majority of their working hours standing? If so, the chances are that you have varicose veins.  Here at Boxbar Vascular, we have varicose vein treatments that can help improve your quality of life.

How did I get Varicose Veins?

Varicose veins occur when your veins become enlarged and overfilled with blood. Sometimes they are painful, and they are most often found in the lower leg region. The veins in your lower legs are the farthest from your heart and gravity makes the blood flowing upward much more difficult, so the blood begins to pool in the vein. Standing on your feet for long periods of time aggravates this condition. Pregnancies, menopause, and obesity also can cause varicose veins. Varicose veins also affect women much more than they do men. Varicose veins must be treated to get rid of them; they won’t go away by themselves.

Varicose Vein Treatments

Legs with Varicose Veins in need of Varicose Vein Surgery. | BoxBar Vascular | Vein Clinic in SeattleDr. Ellen will first perform a venous ultrasound to determine an exact diagnosis.  Once she has your diagnosis, there are several treatment options she offers. The first is Phlebectomy – a minimally invasive varicose vein surgery that uses a small needle to remove varicose veins on the leg surface. If you are a good candidate, this procedure is very successful. A second treatment option is a new treatment option called VenaSeal. This is an FDA approved procedure in which there is no downtime – you can literally go to the gym after the procedure! Through a small catheter, medical glue is sealed up the main defective vein. The vein will then harden and be reabsorbed by the body. This is a painless and safe way to get rid of varicose veins.
